Carrie’s photographs reflect her passion for adventure and her even-handed embrace of beauty and humor. Her lens hones in on the unexpectedly stunning tree root, the perilous bend of a train track, and the wry glance of a child. Each image is at once a story of its own and a tantalizing peek into a world apart about which we yearn to know more.
Carrie’s travels throughout Africa, Sri Lanka and Thailand have resulted not only in remarkable landscapes, but also in disarming portraits of the people and animals she encounters. A student of cultures and a graceful traveler, Carrie establishes an authentic rapport with her subjects that enables her to capture a rare sense of immediacy and intimacy.
Carrie’s photographs have appeared in the Darkroom Gallery in Missoula Montana, Avatar Magazine, and Smithsonian online. She attended the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in Missoula after earning a degree in psychology from St. Mary’s College in Maryland, and working in the field of psychology.
Carrie admires the work of Elliott Erwitt, Richard Avedon, and Sally Mann.
